How it works

What the calculator includes

The monthly figure is built from three parts that make up almost every printer lease in the UK.

  • The printer itself

The lease cost of the machine, spread over the term. About £36 a month for an A4 multifunction printer and £66 a month for an A3 model, on a 60-month lease.

  • Cost per page

The click charge that covers toner, parts and engineer visits. Mono pages from 0.26p and colour pages from 2.55p each.

  • Suppliers competing

When up to 4 suppliers quote for the same job, prices come down. The estimate includes a 20% saving on a single supplier's list price.

FAQs

Printer lease calculator questions

How the estimate works, and what affects your real price.

Back to the calculator

How accurate is the printer lease calculator?

It gives an indicative monthly figure based on typical UK lease and cost-per-page rates. Your real price depends on the exact printer, the features you need, your print volumes and the supplier, so use it as a starting point and compare real quotes before you decide.

What is included in the monthly cost?

The estimate covers the lease of the printer plus a cost per page that normally includes toner, parts, maintenance and engineer visits. Delivery, installation and extras such as finishers or extra paper trays can vary between suppliers.

Why is a longer lease cheaper each month?

The cost of the printer is spread over more months, so each payment is lower. A 60-month lease has the lowest monthly cost; a 36-month lease costs more each month but lets you upgrade sooner.

How much more does colour printing cost?

Colour pages cost around ten times more than mono pages. In this calculator, mono pages are from 0.26p each and colour pages from 2.55p each, so your colour mix makes a big difference to the monthly cost.

Do I need an A3 or an A4 printer?

Most small offices only need A4. Choose A3 if you print plans, posters, spreadsheets or brochures, or if you want a larger, faster machine for a busy office. A3 printers cost more to lease.

Does using the calculator cost anything?

No. The calculator is free, needs no sign-up and does not ask for your email. If you want real prices, fill in our short form and up to 4 suppliers will quote, also free and with no obligation.
