What we do

Compare Advantage is a free comparison service. Tell us how calls reach your electrical business, and we match you with UK providers of AI receptionists that take fault calls, landlord certificates and installation enquiries, and send you the details while you are on the tools.

  • Points power-cut callers to 105 instead of booking them
  • Books landlord and letting agent work into your diary

Compare before you commit

Most of your calls are not emergencies. The ones that are, really are.

An electrician’s phone mixes quotes for EV chargers, letting agents booking certificates, small jobs and the occasional genuinely dangerous fault. An AI receptionist that treats them all the same either wastes your time or misses the call that matters. Compare providers on how they sort calls by type, how fast danger reaches you, and how well they book the routine work you would rather not take on the phone.

What to compare

  • How it separates a fault from a power cut. A street-wide outage is not a job for you. A tripping circuit might be. The questions decide which.
  • Whether it handles letting agents well, with property addresses, tenant access and several jobs in one call.
  • How it passes on genuine danger, such as burning smells or scorched sockets, to you immediately.
  • What it can book directly into your diary or job software, and what it leaves as a message.
  • How it describes your registration, using wording you have approved, never claims you have not checked.

105

Not every “no power” call is yours

When the whole street is dark, the fault is on the network, and the caller needs their network operator, not an electrician. 105 is a free number that puts callers through to their local electricity network operator, whoever supplies their energy. An AI receptionist can ask “are your neighbours affected too?” and give that number, saving the caller time and you a wasted trip.

Repeat work

Landlord inspections, on a five-year cycle

Landlords of privately rented homes in England must have the electrical installation inspected and tested by a qualified person at least every five years, and give tenants a copy of the report. Letting agents often book several at once.

  • 5 years

the longest interval between electrical inspections for privately rented homes in England, or sooner if the report says so

  • 28 days

for the landlord to give the tenant a copy of the report after the inspection

An AI receptionist can take these bookings, collect property and tenant access details, and offer reminders when the next inspection falls due.

“Are you registered?”

Answer the trust questions in your own words

Homeowners are told to use an electrician who can sign off notifiable work under the Building Regulations, usually through a competent person scheme. So they ask. Give the AI receptionist an approved answer about your registration and insurance, and nothing more.

Say what you hold

The scheme you are registered with, and where to check it, in your wording.

Never guess

If a caller asks about something you have not given it an answer for, it takes the question for you.

Keep advice out

It can take symptoms, not diagnose faults or tell anyone to open a fuse board.

Compare AI receptionists

What does an AI receptionist do for an electrician?

It answers your business number when you are working, asks what the caller needs, takes the address and details, and sends you a summary. Urgent fault calls can be passed straight to you, and routine work booked into your diary.

What if a caller has a power cut?

If the whole street is out, the problem is with the network, not their wiring. The agent can ask that question and point them to 105, the free number that connects them to their local network operator, rather than booking a call-out.

What about a burning smell or a hot socket?

Treat it as urgent. Set the agent to tell the caller to stop using the affected circuit, and to pass the call or an alert to you straight away. Agree the exact wording with your provider.

Can it book EICRs for landlords and letting agents?

Yes. Privately rented homes in England need an electrical inspection at least every five years, so these bookings repeat. The agent can take property and access details and, where your system allows, offer a reminder before the next one is due.

Callers ask if I am registered. What should it say?

Only what you have confirmed, in wording you approve, for example the competent person scheme you belong to. It should never guess or claim a registration you do not hold.

Can it give a price for an EV charger or a rewire?

Better not. It can take the details you need to quote, such as property type and where the charger would go, and book a survey. Prices stay with you.

Does it work with my job software?

Some services connect to common job management and diary tools; others send a summary for you to enter. Tell us what you use and we match you with providers that fit.

Will callers know it is an AI?

They should. A short greeting that says it is your AI assistant is good practice and avoids confusion later.

Can it cover my area only?

Yes. It can ask for the postcode first and explain politely if the job is outside the area you cover.
